Billy designed and developed Noel Myles’ website and is currently directing, designing and developing a browser-based 3D landscape “Deception & Censorship” for the site.
The site is an archive of a selection of work from 40 years of the artist’s photography practice. The design drew inspiration from the semi-automatic Nikon F-301 camera, one of the artist’s favourite tools. The design puts imagery front and centre, with fast loading, high resolution imagery and intuitive navigation between series of work.
The 3D landscape was inspired by the artist’s eponymous series of work “Deception and Censorship”. The 3D assets were custom made using Blender, harnessing the power of procedural geometries and materials to create a reimagining of the environment the artist explored. The finished version will be a multiplayer, open-world photography game, where players explore the world to photograph the scene using a number of different cameras. Billy developed a custom Instanced LOD system, to allow for performant placement of thousands of detailed flora and fauna throughout the scene. An alpha version of the videogame is live now.
